The medical definition of vaginal laxity refers to the perceived increase in the diameter or flexibility of the vaginal canal (Paul’s, 2015). This condition can develop due to factors such as childbirth, aging, or genetic predisposition (Iglesias et al., 2013).  Other literatures defines it as a sensation of vaginal looseness which may develop after pregnancy and vaginal delivery and may be affected by prior pelvic surgery, menopause, hormonal changes, genetics, lifestyle and aging

From a clinical perspective, the degree of vaginal laxity can vary significantly between individuals and is not necessarily an abnormal finding (Karram & Maher, 2013). In some cases, vaginal laxity may be associated with decreased sexual satisfaction or sensation, but the subjective impact can be highly variable (Pauls, 2015).

According to research, the majority of women worldwide experience issues with vaginal looseness at some point in their lives (Smith, 2022). This can be a significant source of concern, as a loose vagina can make it difficult for women to experience heightened sexual sensations and achieve orgasm due to the reduced friction between the vagina and penis (Jones, 2021). Additionally, this issue can lead to a lack of confidence in women (Williams, 2020). To regain lost confidence and fully enjoy sexual experiences, it is crucial for women to employ effective methods to tighten their vagina back to its pre-delivery state (Brown, 2019).

It is important to recognize that every woman and every vagina is unique (Smith, 2022). Just as penises come in different sizes, vaginas also vary in their dimensions (Jones, 2021). This explains why some women find larger penises highly pleasurable, while others experience pain (Williams, 2020). The fact that a woman can accommodate a larger penis does not necessarily mean she has had more sexual partners or is "loose" (Brown, 2019). She may simply have a larger vagina naturally and that is not her fault.

The vagina is naturally highly elastic, constantly expanding and contracting (Smith, 2022). During sexual arousal, the vagina will become "loose" in preparation for intercourse, but it will then tighten back to its normal state after sex (Jones, 2021). Contrary to popular belief, increased sexual activity does not make the vagina permanently "looser" (Williams, 2020).

 Research has found no scientific evidence linking a "cavernous" vagina to excessive sexual activity (Brown, 2019). In fact, the vagina is not the only part of the body designed to expand and contract; for example, the mouth can accommodate large amounts of food without becoming permanently "loose" (Smith, 2022).

There is no evidence that a woman's sexual history affects the tightness of her vagina. I need to stress this point as it seems to be only acceptable reason that the general public uses to attach a stigma on women experiencing vaginal laxity. Various research have suggested that excessive sexual intercourse does not directly cause vaginal laxity. Vaginal laxity, or looseness, is a complex issue influenced by various factors which we have touched on already, including:

  • 1. Childbirth: Vaginal deliveries can lead to stretching and weakening of vaginal tissues.

  • 2. Aging: Decreased estrogen levels during menopause can cause vaginal atrophy and laxity.

  • 3. Genetics: Individual tissue strength and elasticity play a role.

  • 4. Lifestyle factors: Obesity, smoking, and lack of exercise may contribute to vaginal laxity.

Sexual intercourse, regardless of frequency, does not directly cause vaginal laxity. However, it's essential to note that frequent intercourse can lead to vaginal stretching, but this is usually temporary and reversible.

Aggressive or rough intercourse might cause micro-tears in vaginal tissues, potentially contributing to laxity over time however not very likely. I understand that, this segment is very hard to swallow as each one of you have repeatedly been made to believe without a shadow of a doubt that frequent sexual intercourse especially with different men is the number one cause. I am here to tell you that, if this contributes to vaginal laxity, its less than a percent.

Solutions:

There are some natural methods that can help tighten the vagina (Jones, 2021)

  • 1. Follow A Healthy Diet

One of the best ways on how to tighten vagina is through healthy diet as it will help to strengthen the pelvic floor. You should consume more estrogens-rich foods such as soybeans as well as its products, carrots, yarns, wheat berries and apples for your vagina to tighten naturally. Vegetables and fresh fruits are also part of a balanced diet that supports vaginal health. Citrus fruits, strawberries, guava, kiwifruit, green or red peppers as well as broccoli are rich in vitamin C and should be consumed in abundance. Never use lime or citrus lemon to wash your vaginal.

  • 2. Hygiene Methods

Another effective tip on how to tighten vagina at home is to use hygiene methods on a daily basis. For example, when you take a bath, you had better clean yourself with care. You can use a soft cleanser to gently rinse and clean your vagina. There are some products like herbal soaps that you can use when taking your bath. Never use a medicated soap on your private end.

  • 7. Knowing How to Do Squats

Squats are sometimes known to as the king of all exercises as they work the hips, quads, hamstrings and sneakily strengthen your pelvic floor muscles, how to do them is a different question. If done properly, squats will effectively strengthen your vaginal muscles and tone your lady-bits back to its pre-stretched state.
